James Moore war von 2017 bis 2023 Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl Geschichte Israels in der altorientalischen Welt.
Von Januar 2019 bis Dezember 2020 war Dr. Moore Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Forschungsprojekt "New Aramaic Papyri from Elephantine", finanziert von der Fritz-Thyssen-Stiftung. Die Abschlusspublikationen des Projekts ist im Mai 2022 erschienen.
Von Januar 2021 bis August 2023 war er Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter des Forschungsprojektes "Judeans/Arameans at Elephantine: Their Social and Economic Status in Light of New Persian Period Texts from Egypt and Babylonia", finanziert von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft.
