Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - IOSOT 2025

Frequently Asked Questions

Please note: We have recently been informed that a purported travel agency is sending booking requests to speakers based on public information from the IOSOT website. The agency has nothing to do with IOSOT Berlin 2025. Its mails are fishing attempts. In case of doubt, please contact Bernd Schipper or Jonathan Böhm to verify the authenticity of the information you receive by e-mail.

Registration

Do I need a voucher to register?
You do not need a voucher to register for the conference. Vouchers will only be issued to the main speaker and staff.

What kind of verification do I need to prove my student status?
Please upload your Student ID or certificate of enrollment to prove your student status.

My partner will accompany me. Do they need to register to attend parts of the conference's program?
Accompanying partners not involved in Hebrew Bible studies or related fields can register as students and pay the reduced fee. Instead of a certificate of enrolment, please provide the booking confirmation of the participant that will be accompanied and a short statement that the accompanying participant is not involved as a scholar in Hebrew Bible studies or related fields.

Publishers

My publishing house would like to be represented at the book exhibition with a book table. Who do I need to contact?
For publishers engaged in the field of bible studies and related disciplines, the IOSOT Berlin 2025 offers an excellent opportunity to present their program. On the first full day of the congress (Tuesday, August 12, 2025), a book exhibition will open in the Senate Hall of the main building of Humboldt University. During the breaks, there will also be a coffee buffet outside the doors of the Senate Hall, inviting congress participants to visit the exhibition. We would be delighted if you were represented with your program at the book exhibition. For more information, please contact iosot2025@hu-berlin.de

Short Papers

When is my paper scheduled?
IOSOT Short paper sessions will run from Tuesday to Friday. You find a preliminary program overview on our website (Program --> Academic Program). Paper sessions of sister organisations (esp. IOSCS, IOQS) may already start on Monday. Please note, that the program may still be subject to change.

How long should my paper be?
Papers presented in general short paper sessions should be no longer than 20 minutes. You will have an additional 10 minutes to answer questions and discuss your paper with the audience.
Papers presented in specialized panels may differ. Please contact your panel chair for more information.
