Farewell to James D. Moore, PhD
James D. Moore, PhD, who has been a Research Associate (PostDoc) in various Elephantine-related projects since 2017, will take up his new position as an Assistant Professor at Ohio State University on August 15, 2023. We would like to thank him for his time at our chair and wish him all the best in his new role.

ERC Advanced Grant
Prof. Dr. Dr. Bernd U. Schipper was awarded the highest European research prize on 22.4.2021.His research team and he will receive 2.5 million euros from the European Research Council (ERC) for research on Demotic Literature and the Hebrew Bible. The project started on Jan. 1, 2022. A first international workshop was held in September 2022 at the College de France in Paris, and the second international workshop is planned for September 2023 at Oxford University.

Archaelogical Excavation on Tell Keisan
Currently, the second excavation campaign is underway with the participation of the Humboldt-Universität Berlin on Tell Keisan in Israel. The research project is funded by the Humboldt University Foundation (2021-2025) and carried out in cooperation with the University of Chicago (Prof. David Schloen) and Ben Gurion University Beersheva (Prof. Gunnar Lehmann).
