first meeting
The first meeting of the network “religions and the emotions”, which is funded by the German Research Foundation, took place from 05/10/2023 to 07/10/2023 at the theological faculty of the Humboldt-University to Berlin. The first meeting served the members of the network to get to know each other and to start the work of the network and the first sessions. Notger Slenzka, Claudia Welz, Roderich Barth, Susanne Schmetkamp, Christoph Seibert, Ryan Mullins, Ruth Rebecca Tietjen, Hartmut von Sass, Fabian Bernhardt and Eva Weber-Guskar presented texts and projects, which were then discussed by the members of the network. In addition to the content-related work, there was time for restaurant visits and a tour of the nearby “Berliner Dom”.
second meeting
The second meeting of the network "religions and the emotions" took place from 29/03/2023 to 31/03/2023 at the theologial faculty of the Humboldt-University to Berlin. Besides some papers by Claudia Blöser, Tobias Friesen, Ruth Rebecca Tietjen and the two guests Donovan Schaeffer and Anne Käfer the second meeting was all about the phenomenon of "envy" as part of which papers of Ingrid Vendrell Ferran, Christoph Seibert, Notger Slenczka and Hartmut von Sass were discussed. In addition to all the fruitful content-related work, there was time for restaurant visits and a guided tour of the Dorotheenstädtischer Friedhof.
third meeting
The third meeting of the network "religion and the emotions" took place from 04/10/2023 to 06/10/2023 at the theological faculty of the Humboldt-University to Berlin. There were fruitful discussions about papers being presented by Ruth Rebecca Tietjen, Ryan T. Mullins, Notger Slenczka, Claudia Welz, Clare Carlisle Tresch, Tobias Friesen, Eva Weber-Guskar and Jean Moritz Müller covering topics from christianity and heavy metal to theory of subjectivity and the web of emotions. The network was happy to welcome Klaas Huizing and Christine Tappolet as guests. Besides presentations and discussions, there was time to visit some nearby restaurants and a guided tour through the famous Bode Museum which shows christian art from several centuries.
fourth meeting
The fourth meeting of the network "religion and the emotions" will take place from 20/03/2024 to 22/03/2024 at the theological faculty to the Humboldt-University to Berlin.
